CORONAVIRUS COVID-19 PROTOCOL:

TEMPORARY MEASURES DURING THESE UNPRECEDENTED TIMES

Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it is both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We are also following guidance as provided by the Arizona Governor and Arizona Department of Health and Human Services so that we may return to serving your family’s oral health needs.

We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.

Please be aware of the following adaptations we have made:

  • The pre-visit screening process consists of questions that may be asked several times

  • We are performing mobile check-in whenever possible - remain in your vehicle until told to come inside

  • Patients that have Drive-Thru Dentistry appointments will not even need to come into the clinic at all

  • Only one parent/guardian may accompany the scheduled patient to the visit – no other visitors or unscheduled children are permitted in clinic and must remain in their vehicle or outside the facility. Please be aware that children cannot be left unattended in vehicles in Arizona.

  • We will ask you to perform hand hygiene upon entering the clinic (washing hands or use of hand sanitizer)

  • You will be asked to wear your own face covering when in our office. If you do not have a face covering yet, please inform our team that can loan a protective cloth face covering before entering the building.

  • You may see that our waiting room currently will not offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment, and may be asked to wait in your vehicle when appropriate to maintain social distancing.

  • We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

  • Children of school age (5 and up) will be asked to attend the clinical areas for treatment independently. This is no different than when your child attends school – you simply let them go to class and have an opportunity to learn without you right beside them. If your child asks about the change, just let them know they are going to “Smile School” and their “Tooth Teachers” will be there to show them how to keep a healthy smile!

  • Children under age 5 will be assessed individually by our team – those that are deemed developmentally capable will go to “Smile School” with our “Tooth Teachers” by themselves. Those who are unable will be asked to have a parent attend with them

  • Treatment modalities may be altered to reduce aerosols or provide non-aerosolized treatments when medically appropriate.

  • Treatment plans may be altered to accomplish care in a safe manner and in keeping with current guidance. Our team will communicate needed changes to treatment plans on an as-needed basis.

  • Teledentistry or Drive-Thru Dentistry may be provided as an alternative to care when feasible or appropriate to the situation.
