Reflections on an uncertain and challenging time
This year has been unusual, and my heart goes out for our team members and patients who have been personally and forever affected by this pandemic. While many things have changed, I have not changed my personal commitment to safety for my team and patients.
This pandemic has required changes to my practice style for the time being. I am committed to not charging an infection control fee, however, this has altered the method of care delivery. One of my most challenging changes is to ask parents to allow their children to go to clinic areas independently. The kids have been terrific, and most are very proud of this accomplishment.
Our office is following the ever-evolving guidance from the CDC, OSHA, and Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners as well as those mandates from the local, state, and federal level. We will update our practices in real-time as the situation evolves. Please understand we are all doing the best we can given this difficult time. We can only help if you share with us directly - rather than vent on social media (which is always easy to do, but certainly less satisfying).
It is certainly understandable to be angry, confused, or sad about this situation. I definitely have experienced grief, but my work and seeing my little patients brings me joy and hope for the future.

PREPARE FOR YOUR VISIT
You will receive a text message 1 hour before your visit with our screening form. These new screening questions that help us understand if you can be seen at this time. If not we will ask you to reschedule. If you do not receive a text (you might not have opted into our text reminders) - please go to our Mobile Covid Check In Link on our home page.
Only the scheduled patient and 1 parent/legal guardian is allowed in the building. Leave any guests or other family members at home. If a parent brings other guests, then these persons will need to remain in their vehicle. Keep in mind that Arizona is hot - you must be able to properly chill your vehicle. Children cannot be left unattended by law in a vehicle.
CHANGES FOR YOUR VISIT
MOBILE CHECK IN
DO NOT ENTER THE BUILDING WITHOUT BEING INSTRUCTED BY OUR TEAM. We have reminders on the door as well - call us or text us. This notice applies to ALL of our patients and parents.
Any person that enters the building will undergo a temperature check. If you have a temperature about 100.4 F, you will be rescheduled. Hot vehicles can lead to a false reading - so please keep your vehicle chilled to reduce your chance of reschedule.
Any person that enters the office over 2 years old must have a face covering. Those patients unable to have a face covering will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, and may include a medical consultation and reschedule of the visit.
We'll require everyone to maintain at least six feet of separation as they move through the office when possible. This may increase wait times so we please ask that you be patient with us and our other guests.
REMOVAL OF SHARED ITEMS
For the time being, we're limiting items that are difficult to clean and disinfect such toys, games, brochures, and magazines in the waiting room. If you would like to use headphones or a game during your visit, please bring your own.
CLINIC AREA RESTRICTIONS

For the time being, we ask that developmentally-capable patients enter our clinic areas independently.
If you would prefer an accommodation, please speak with our team. We may need to reschedule you or have you wait to accommodate this special request. Again, this is not how we prefer to practice, but have made this sacrifice for safety.

You deserve a dental team you trust. We will miss you, but we are always willing to forward records.
AS ALWAYS, WE WANT A SAFE VISIT
You’ll see our staff using new forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) for their safety, including face shields, special masks, and plastic barriers in our front office. Our team also undergoes daily screening and temperature checks.
TRAINING & SANITIZATION
We used our time closed to train our team on this disease, airborne precautions, and infection control. We have also enhanced our previously strict infection control protocols to include hypochlorous acid fogging, which provides increased sanitization of all the office surfaces.
INFECTION CONTROL FEE
We have adjusted our protocols and clinic policies rather than crate an out-of-pocket expense for our patients. While most clinics are charging between $10-20 per visit extra (that most insurances are not covering), we have strategized differently to reduce the risk that someone might skip a much-needed dental visit.
